wherehaveallthecowboysgone asked: My lovely boyfriend, who I have all sorts of debates with on feminism, sexuality and gender, has just informed me that one of his friends wishes to debate with me on feminism. I was wary of this, but prepared to be more accepting if it was about the negative things that feminists have done and the problems with the movement. Then he told me that it was because this friend didn't think we needed feminism any more. I'm going to bulldoze this dudebro. Any suggestions, bitches?
Can I just say that I think the idea of debating with your friend’s girlfriend about the negative things feminists have done (WTF are these things?) is a little odd. Seriously, bro?
BUT: I find that presenting numbers, ie that women make 70-80 cents to a man’s dollar and that they make more money than men (considering the aforementioned fact by working harder) and that a lot more women are more educated than men helps. But the fact that powerful women, like Michele Obama, cannot do all they want to do in policy making and have to stick to growing vegetables instead, shows that feminism has come a long way but there is still a lot to be done.
